Utilize

In this day of shopping on the net and just buying everything new that you think you need, take a step back.

Utilize what you have and find a practical use for it--definition of utilize.

I'm an old soul and I keep history alive in everything I can.

I took an old side leg to a vintage sewing machine and made a side border for one of my gardens.

Need a light for the deck table at night. Take a 1.00 clay pot, turn upside down and put a 1.00 garden light in the hole. Works fantastic.

Want a new lamp to match the new chair, use the old lamp-buy and new shade and glue on a pretty trim that matches your new fabric.

Keeping up with everyone is a big task and and as soon  as you buy what they have, they have taken out a new credit card and are buying more.

Showing honor

Yesterday our church honored all the current and past Military in the service.

My Air Force veteran in the check shirt.

They all came down front and received a loud round of applause.  This was only one of three services so I'm sure we have many Military in our church.

Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day celebration.

Glorious sunset

A few nights ago my husband noticed a glorious sunset though the front room windows. I grabbed my cell phone and went out to the front porch to get a picture.

It had been raining so the street is glistening!! The reflection of the trees shows on the street.  The colors are glorious don't you think?

I see plenty of pink in here plus all shades of red. So happy we noticed this event!!

Teddy Bear

Funny how things get switched around as we get older, we took care of our children so much and now they are beginning to do the same for us.

Our grands like to give stuffed animals to Papaw nowadays.  When our oldest grand was in San Francisco a few weeks ago she bought this bear for Papaw. Usually its the parents bringing them back to little ones.

Isn't that a good message.

This little duo from our grandchildren sits on the monitor reminding us everyday.

I don't think you get too old to enjoy little softies!!

Several

Several 's definition is anything more than two but not too many.  Do you think 15 counts as several, I do.

I spread out 15 bags of mulch this morning in my Oz garden.

This song by Ernie Ford came to my mind: Changed it a little

Fifteen bags and what do you get
Another day older and
POOPED

Mothers Day 2018

Nellie is my beautiful Momma who is 92 and this was taken just a few weeks ago.

She is a Mom to four girls and wife of 46 years. My Dad passed away 26 years ago and she has remained single. She does have a friend who goes to country music dances with her and takes her to church.

She has been such a wonderful example to us four girls--she has a servants heart. She took care of her mother and father in law before their deaths and my Dad who suffered with cancer for the last four years of his life. She suffered the loss of a daughter, our sister Katy with heart failure in 2016.

We adore the woman and Mom that she is.

I see a speck of blue on my Aunts top behind Mom so I'll link with BLUE MONDAY

Dragon mural

My oldest granddaughter is a member of her High School Symphony Orchestra and they took a trip last month to San Francisco.   They competed in a nation wide competition and their orchestra placed 2nd in the country!! What a great experience for her and fun for us to see some beautiful pictures.

I really like this one in front of a beautiful dragon mural.

Quarry

Finding a Q word is always a challenge.  Did some looking on wiki and decided on quarry. I know there are several quarries here in Kansas and many throughout our country.

This image really caught my eye "Rock of Ages" quarry in Vermont. Rock of Ages quarry is the  largest deep hole destination granite quarry. It is 600 feet deep and the water a milky blue.

Another quarry in Mt. Airy, North Carolina is the size of 66 football fields.

Pakistan is know for it onyx stone quarries and Spain for it's marble.

This stone was carved at Rock of Ages quarry, such expertise.

We Americans do love those marble and granite kitchen counter tops--most new homes come with such luxuries.
