Rednesday - Winning Chistmas Tree

http://suelovescherries.blogspot.com/

Last weekend  I attended a Christmas play at a theatre located in the Kansas City Union Station.  (The station where there was major shoot-outs in the 1920's  -- Baby Face Nelson to name one.

Set up in the mall of the station was a christmas tree contest.  Different groups had entered trees, the first place went to a tree created by the Girl Scouts--Some where over the rainbow.  OFCOURSE it was my favorite, every detail was great.

The tree was hung upside down, the tornado really did a job on this one!  Notice the topper is the hot air balloon and the red shoes at the bottom along with Dorothy's basket and Toto.

There were red poinsettias everywhere so I to get a shot with the grands.

Hope you enjoy your Rednesday today.

Well WE'RE OFF!!!! It's the official decorating season.    Let's all join Beverly and use all of those PINKS in our holiday displays.

This year our living room tree is decked out in PINK and BRONZE.  I'm using silk pink poinsettas and pink and bronze ornaments.  I purchased a really pretty pink star tree topper, and using pink as the tree skirt.

Today I'm seeing a Christmas Jingle play with my daughter and granddaughters, a little shopping too. Have a great weekend.

Thanksgiving Light Celebration

One of our family traditions is to visit the Country Club Plaza and spend the evening playing games, eating and more eating.  Our family rents a suite at a hotel overlooking the plaza and watch the lights come on.  It's usually officiated by Kansas City Chiefs players and local entertainers.    The Plaza is an original outdoor shopping area from the 1950's  with several unique stores and several large ones.   The Plaza is famous for it's wonderful fountains and architecture.  Here's a few pictures.  It's not easy to get good pics of the lights from the room but there still pretty.

The last one is of my granddaughter taking care of my great nephew to show him the lights. I love seeing their reflections in the window.

Hope you all had a bountiful Thanksgiving.

VINTAGE THINGIE THURSDAY - 2ND WOODWORKING PROJECT "FAUX VINTAGE SHELF"

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/   Joing Suzanne today for Vintage Thingie Thursday.

I have an entry today that is "VINTAGE INSPIRED".   I have been in a beginners woodworking class for about 2 months and this is my second project.

This shelf resembles the shelves of the 1950's with the two shelves and the scrollwork.  I used several machines to accomplish this work.  I did not stain it but wanted to keep the oringinal wood. I just used a varnish to bring out the wood grain.

My shelf is setting on a bench that my hubby made last month.
Have a great Thursday.

REDNESDAY & OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

The day of Thanksgiving my outdoor decorations will appear at our house.
We will still have a big day celebrating Thanksgiving with our family.

Mr. Tin Man is getting ready to be "Santa's Helper".

Frosty is one of my favorite decorations - we  may  not have any snow but he's still showing up.
This time of year is so much fun around here. Love sharing all my special decorations with you.

Have a great day.

Pink Saturday

http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ Beverly is waiting to see all of the beautiful PINKS we have to share today.

I've started getting out Christmas decorations today, deciding what colors I want to use and packing up the regular fall stuff.

I always use my vintage ornaments.

All the delicate pinks mixed with soft yellow and green.

I have a new little pink tree I picked up at a flea market last year.

I have some work to do on my little pink house, she needs some window wreaths and maybe a string of lights on the roof.

It's been mighty busy around here-but really enjoyable.  Last week I took my sister and granddaughters to see the Broadway Touring company of C.A.T.S.  Here we are all dressed up.  It was a great show.

Happy Pink Saturday to everyone.
